FAQs
What does the all inclusive tour include?
A full week in the goldfields with daily prospecting, hands-on training and guidance. Each evening you can relax by the campfire, enjoy good company and take in the stars. Locations vary, offering fresh ground and new adventures each season.
How many people will be in the group?
Each tour is kept to a small group of up to 15 guests, plus the guiding team. The groups are deliberately intimate so everyone gets plenty of support, time on the ground and the chance to form real friendships. Most guests leave with mates they stay in touch with long after the red dirt has washed off
Do I need a 4WD?
A 4WD is best for these days, though an AWD is acceptable — nothing less. We travel on dirt and bush tracks that change with the weather, so a capable vehicle is important.
What machine can I bring?
Recommended machines for Western Australia conditions are the GPZ 7000, GPX 6000, GPX 5000, SDC 2300, and Gold Monster 2000. If you plan to bring any other model, please contact us before booking.
Can I hire a machine?
Yes. We have Minelab gold detectors available for hire. Hiring a suitable machine is often the best option if your own detector isn’t ideal for Western Australia ground.
Can I bring my dog?
We have a strict no-dogs policy.
Can I bring a companion who won't be prospecting?
Yes, you can bring a companion for an additional fee. Please inform us as soon as possible.
Will I find gold?
We give you the very best chance by taking you to hand-picked locations chosen for their potential. Our guides depth of knowledge is unmatched, but success ultimately comes down to technique, persistence and Lady Luck.
Can I keep what I find?
Yes. Your Western Australian Miner’s Right entitles you to keep all gold you find.
Do I need a Miners Right?
Yes. A Western Australian Miner’s Right is required to legally search for and keep gold. You can purchase one online herefor $30 before the tour, or we can take you to buy one on the first day.
What are the expected temperatures?
Expect warm days, cool evenings and classic outback conditions. Daytime temperatures often sit between 18–25°C, with cooler nights.
How long are we out in the field each day?
Expect full days in the field, generally 6–8 hours with regular breaks.
Are alcohol drinks available?
Alcohol is not included but is available for purchase at most locations.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance isn’t compulsory, but it is strongly recommended to cover unexpected changes or disruptions.
Will mobile reception be available?
Mobile coverage is generally available in town, but once we’re out in the Goldfields it can be limited. Telstra provides the best coverage in the region, though signal strength varies depending on the terrain.
Do you run tours in bad weather?
We monitor conditions daily and adjust as needed.
Is this tour suitable for everyone?
This tour requires a reasonable level of mobility, as you’ll be walking over uneven ground and handling metal detecting equipment for extended periods.
